6 to 8 tart apples* 3/4 to 1 cup sugar 2 Tablespoons flour 1 teaspoon cinnimon Dash of nutmeg Dash of salt Pastry for 2-crust 9-inch pie 2 Tablespoons butter or margarine Pare apples and slice thin. Combine sugar, flour, spices, and salt. Layer apple slices in a 9-inch pie plate that has been lined with pastry. Sprinkle spices evenly over layers of apple slices. Dot with butter. Place top crust over apple slices, spices and butter; sprinkle with sugar for sparkle. Bake in hot oven (400 degrees) 50 mintues or until done. *My personal favorite apples for pie is Macintosh. |
