Instruction for needleturn applique used in making Molas follows.
Needle turn is nothing more than making a cut in the top fabric of two or more fabric pieces stacked or sandwiched together, turning the edge of the cut under using your needle to make the turn, and sewing tiny blind stitches of the folded edge to the lower layer of fabric. To turn and sew a curve, it is helpful to make tiny snips along the edge of the curve you will be sewing. To make a point, sew to approximately 3/8" of point, snip the tip (1/8" or less), fold the opposite side of the point where you are sewing, and continue stitching.
This page is under construction, I will have examples and instructions soon.
